Red River Unitarian Universalist Church

Sunday, June 13, 2010
11:15 am

Denison - This Sunday, Jun 13, the people of Red River Unitarian Universalist Church will listen to Mr. George Loenberger, a retired high school chemistry teacher who has, for ten years, been an astronomy instructor at Northeast Texas Community College near Mt. Pleasant.

His remarks "UU Stars: Astronomy from a Unitarian Universalist Viewpoint" will be a intriguing, lighthearted, multi-media look at our Universe, the planets, our Moon, several stars, star clusters and constellations to see which might be used as the best symbol to represent who Unitarian Universalists are. Some speculation as to ?the reason for it all? may be provided along the way. A current star map will be given out should anyone wish to explore our beautiful night sky on their own.

Mr. Leonberger has taught at the Summer Astronomy Institute For Teachers held in various spots around the country. He is a science educator, a storyteller, and a Unitarian Universalist layman.

The Adult Forum will conclude a two-part program exploring end-of-life issues. On Sunday the discussion will focus on the last few month's of a life, what preparations should be made and by whom. Participants will also reflect on things in their lives which they wish to complete but have not done so.

Unitarian Universalists are people with different beliefs who worship as one faith. The church is at 102 West Harrison Street, a block south of the intersection of Spur 503 and Hwy 69 in Denison. Worshi and Sunday school commence at 11:15 and is preceded by a 15 minute silent meditation starting at 11:00 for those who wish. The Adult Forum is at 10:00 a.m.
