Austin College Dance Team Offers Clinic for Girls 5 and Older

SHERMAN, TEXAS — The Austin College Aussie Dance Team will offer a dance clinic for girls age 5 and older on Saturday, Oct. 27, 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., in Sid Richardson Center of the Robert T. Mason Athletic-Recreation Complex. Cost for the clinic is $15 if paid by Oct. 24; $20 the day of the clinic. A parent should accompany the child to registration at 8:45 a.m. the day of the event. To make a reservation or get more information, call Kelly Fox, Aussie fundraising coordinator, at (972) 977-9845.

Theme for the clinic is “Monster Mash” and children can wear a costume in which they can move freely and dance.
Proceeds from the clinic support costs of the Aussie Spring Show, usually held in April.
Leaders of the Aussie Dance Team are Lieutenant Kelly Fox, a junior from Sunnyvale, Texas, and Lieutenant Kate Murphy, a sophomore from Katy, Texas. Other members of the team are senior Anitha Ezekiel of Plano; sophomores Sarah Campion of San Antonio, Texas; Kaleigh Kelley of Murphy, Texas; Amie Patel of Irving, Texas; Marie Pfarr of Lubbock, Texas; and freshmen Divya Mallela of Plano, Texas; Katie Prater of Garland, Texas; Taylor Knapp of College Station, Texas; and Lesley Wayler of Ludlow, Vermont.
The Aussie Dance Team was established in 1995 Since the Austin College mascot is the Kangaroo, the group took the Aussie name to further promote spirit on campus. The dance team performs at various Austin College sporting events, particularly football and basketball half-time events.
